E-file Sales Tax Correction?

I need help with making a correction on my taxes. I have a Sellers Permit and I filed my taxes online. When I filed my taxes online I didn't file the sales tax for my sellers permit. I didn't actually use the permit so there is nothing to file so I wont be putting in an actual amount. I got a letter from the State Board of Equalization saying I need to make the correction on my taxes by today. Can someone please tell me how I can make this correction online on the website I used to file my taxes? Can someone please tell me how I am supposed to file this? I have no idea what to do. Do I file on my federal tax, state tax, or both? Is there a computer/ tax filing genius who can tell me what section to go to and what info. to give? I really, really appreciate it so much!

You can e-file your CA sales tax "return". Just go to the BOE web site. However you can not do it until you call them and get set up, which means Monday. If you are a quarterly filer the last day WA 5-31-07 but I believe the penalty is based on the tax due which will not be a problem if you had no sales.
Unless I am mistaken (and I don't think I am) you cannot e-file a sales tax return in California. It sounds as though you e-filed your income taxes. Sales taxes are an entirely different animal. Go the BOE website and download the sales tax return. Fill it in (even in only with nothing but zeros) and mail it. If you are correct and have no sales taxes due, you have nothing to worry about since there can be no financial penalties. However, if you choose to ignore the obligation to file even a null-sum return, you may lose your seller's permit and be required to make a large deposit before a new one is issued.

In short, keep your shirt on and get the return on file as soon as you can. The deadline you mentioned is "soft" (meaning it presents no real threat) because there are no sales taxes due. But this does not mean you don't have to file the return sometime. Get to it as soon as time permits.
