How do I close a 401 account without quiting job?

I have to pay wife 1/2 and I need the rest to pay bills but work said I cannot have the rest how do I get around that

Your question is a bit confusing.

Do you want to just stop contributing to your 401(k)? If so, just contact your HR and have them change the deduction percentage to 0%.

If you want to take all the money out of your 401(k), you'll need to contact the company that manages the account and talk to them to close it out. Beware though, you will be taxed very heavily doing so along with penalties for early withdrawal. Also, when I say heavily, I mean it along with the penalties...you'll lose a good percent of the amount that is in the account, perhaps around 35-40%.
