Why do we pay road tax? Where exactly is the money going?
Answers:
If it was roads then we would have the finest road network worldwide, No tolls, no parking fines, no traffic jams. Unfortunately the money goes elsewhere to fund T Blair and his band of Marxist crooks on Humanity Issues such as Iraq, housing immigrants, researching PC, tagging old age pensioners, PCSO's , Big Brother Cameras, Red tape and so on.
ps. Enjoy your new tax in Manchester. or vote these idiots out
road sweepers, road tarmac, all the safety signs etc, probably the speed cameras as well.
road maintenance and construction of new roads. oh and also to get local councillors new cars and swimming pools
I was wondering this yesterday because in our local area our council is talking about introducing road tolls, I thought our road tax paid for repairs and such, if so where will the road toll money be spent ^^ Its just another way to punish drivers :S
to pay wages to jobs for the boys ,and the war effort, not even 1 quarter goes back to improving the roads but as we seem to let any govenment walk all over us there is little we can do about it, is there?
It was called "Road Fund" when introduced and was intended to build & maintain roads.
However, like all taxes , it quickly became part of "consolidated revenue" and thus is just part of the overall tax take.
Where do you think its going? Honestly? Maybe your roads arent in perfect condition but I see road works where ever I go so I know exactly where its going
Into building new roads and then to maintain the roads we have..who else would pay for it??
Strictly speaking you don't pay "road tax" that is only a colloquial name for what is actually a vehicle excise licence. It is a tax on the use of a vehicle.
Like all tax money, it goes into central funds and is spent on a wide variety of things. There is no obligation for the tax funds to be spent on the means by which they are collected. In much the same way the tax collected on chocolate biscuits isn't spent on chocolate biscuits.
It is pretty ridiculous. I thought our taxes pay for road work and whatnot.
I figured it out that for a year of work, I will be paying over $700.00 just on tolls. I pass through 4 toll ways total (2 on the way and 2 on the way back.). One is 0.60 and the other is 0.80.
Road fund tax is part of total revenue income of the government. It is not ring fenced to be used for road repairs and is added to all the other taxes the government collects.I would imagine there are lots of roads like the ones you mention that are also in a bad state of repair.Motorways and main arterial routes are maintained by the ministry of transport.Other roads are maintained by the county council. The roads have been underfunded for years so now the cost of effectively repairing them is out of reach, It is a case of patch here,a patch there. It is all they can afford. The amount released by the government to the ministry and the county councils for road repairs is only a small proportion of the amount actually collected in road tax. It has always been like this. It as not just the present government.
Road tax is just another way for the exchequer (Gordon Brown) to raise money for the "government".
There appears to be no relation between the amount raised from this (and many other taxes) and its use, Are you surprised?????
