I need forms we filed with the IRS from 2003-2005. How can I get them fast?
Is there any way to expedite this?
Answer:
You can go to http://www.irs.gov or you can look in your phone book under the government section (which is usually blue) and call your local IRS office. There you can request your previously filed forms etc. There is a slight charge as well, though I don't remember what it is now--I know it's not over $50 though. They will tell you that it will take 6-8 weeks to get these sent back to you, but when I had to do this a few years ago, I got everything back in about a month. I would also suggest keeping a copy of your returns yourself in the future. Good luck.
You should be able to download all the forms you need from here:
http://www.irs.gov/
Go to www.irs.gov
they can fax or mail you these forms.
If you filed with a company, such as H&R Block, you can call them. Otherwise, you can call the IRS. Their number is 829 (Tax) 1040.
The link below is the instruction from the IRS for ordering a 'tax transcript'. This show the information from the original forms and is available without charge. If you need actual copies of the returns, there is a fee.
