Is Inheritance tax immoral ?

We work most of our lives and pay tax on our earnings, we spend most of our income and pay tax on what we buy, if we have a little over we put it away for our old age and the interest gets taxed, then we die and the government steams in for another hand out. This has to be an imoral tax of the worst kind. Politicians beware the public don't like this tax....It is one tax too far.

Answer:
Totally totally agree....have heard there are moves to get rid of it but I reckon the govt rake in so much for this obscene tax that nothing will come of it...maybe we need to do something about it??!!
Here here!!
In my opinion, it is extremely wrong. Who is supposed to pay for this tax? The person who inherits it? Probably so. It is ridiculous , especially when you think about the fact that Social Security only pays less than $300 for coverage of a funeral. Write your congressperson.
yes i think so but there is a way around it and im gonna find out as the GOV have enough of my tax by now , and i say they aint GETTIN no more!!
yes it is,they are taxed on their money when they are alive!
I'd say its essential - what exactly is unfair about a level playing field?
I do think this tax is very unfair.
Legally we can't pay tax for the same item twice - hence the resale forms all businesses have. Yet in NJ they still do it on cars and the inheritance (death) tax. We need to change the tax laws.
yes it has already been taxed once and once is enough for anyone. sensible people find a way round it.
I believe it is.
Ok, lets say we abolish it.

Can you think of another way to pay the equivalent amount of tax that would be fair? Tax all workers by an extra 2%?

At least this tax focuses on those that have substantial assets, rather than those of us on meagre earnings!
