Anybody know how to fight your school taxes?

Answer:
Most importantly, VOTE. If you're being asessed taxed that you don't owe, then it is important to communicate with the taxing authority and find out what proof they need that you don't owe. If you're trying to fight taxes that you do owe that have already come due, then you may be able to request a payment plan, or a reduction in penalties and interest, but you will have to pay them. Then VOTE the people out of office who think that they DESERVE the money you earn. To educate a child does not require million-dollar buildings and red tape. It takes dedication from a well-paid teacher. When they have those, I'll be happy to pay for it.

You didn't mention if this is a real estate tax or an income tax. If it is real estate, then make sure your home value is correct. IF it is income-based, then look into what deductions are allowed, and what residents are required to file. Sometimes there are exemptions.
go see your town Assessor.

If the taxes are based on the value of your property and you feel your assessment is higher than it should be compared to comparable properties, you can appeal it.
