Are warranties taxable in Massachusetts?
Answer:
The first answer is 100% wrong. They are absolutely not nontaxable everywhere.
In Massachusetts, as far as my limited research goes, extended warranties are nontaxable. Be certain that's what you are talking about because "service contracts" or "maintenance contracts" are defined differently because of what may take place if you have to use it.
If I have you totally confused, you can call the Mass. Dept. of Revenue at 1-800-392-6089 and ask them the more specific question.
In my personal opinion, purchases extended warranties is not worth the money, especially if you pay for it with a credit card. Many credit cards automatically double manufacturers warranties, and I've definitely used that way cool feature. :)
No, they are not taxable anywhere.
