*income tax & ntional insurance (directly from our wages/salaries) graduated from 22% up depending on how much you earn.
*stamp duty on property
*council tax (graduated depending on where you live)
*excise tax/duty on foriegn products
*road tax (on vehicles - graduated on engine size)
*inheritence tax (on anything we inherit over about £250k)
*Road/bridge/tunnel tolls
*goods & service tax or VAT 17.5% (supposedly Value Added Tax) on anything brought in shops and any services (bills, etc) - businesses can claim this back
*TV Licence (anyone who owns a TV or radio)
*IRS (inland revenue service) - taxing our leftovers
*watercraft registration/boat tax
*vehicle license registration tax
*fuel permit tax
*fishing licence tax
*Gift tax
*building permit tax
*cigarette/alcohol tax - stamp duty (as well as VAT)
*corporate income tax (employer tax) approx. 40%
not to mention all the hidden taxes, such as court fines, traffic fines, and many more...

Social Security Tax-federal
Income Tax-federal
property tax-state
gasoline tax-state and federal
registration tax on any vehicle-state
communications tax on cell phone- federal
cigarette tax-state
alcohol tax-state
there are probably more that I pay that I don't know are taxes too.
energy tax-state (and maybe federal?)
fishing liscense tax-state
I live in the UK too and yes I agree all these taxes suck!
I'm an american stationed in Germany. The nice thing about being here is that we don't pay bills at all if we chose! We can get tax relief forms for anything we buy off post and anything on post is never taxed. Our homes come with the job. We pay for internet and our car insurance. Not bad.
I live in Oklahoma, USA. I pay rent, gas, electric, cable, phone,cell phone, personal loan, car insurance, health insurance,water,sewer,garbage, groceries,clothes, auto fuel. Thats all, every month.
We don't pay any taxes, after all that's part of the reason for the Revolutionary War back in 1776, when we threw out you British scum.

It would take all day to answer this question if you lived in North Carolina.it may take even longer because as I write this, the NC state government are busy think up new TAXES for us to pay! :(
