How do I go about Filing an out of state Tax return?

Lived in Pa and moved to Texas and I am wondering how do I go about filing in Pa?

Answer:
The link below will give you some choices as to whether to efile or prepare a paper return. I'd do a paper return for two reasons (1) it's past the deadline to do the electronic filing and (2) it's easier to see if you've missed any income or expense categories (provided you follow instructions well).

Are you talking about your 2005 return (overdue) or your 2006 return (way too early to file)?

*If it's your 2005, and you moved during 2005, then you need Part-Year Resident forms.
*If it's your 2005, and you moved during 2006, then you need Resident forms.
*If it's your 2006, you'll have to wait a couple of months, and then file as a Part Year Resident.
You should be able to go on the web site for that state and get the forms and instructions for these forms.
can see if they have the form on line to fill in & print out as many states do. Otherwise have to call & have 1 sent.
You should be able to go on-line and request the info. or the right form you need. Hope you like Texas, I also lived there for 2yrs and really enjoyed it.
Pennsylvania definitely has the forms available on their website, although 2006 isn't out there yet - it will be around the first of the year.

You'll use the same form, PA-40, that you used when you were a resident all year. In the upper right corner, there are boxes to check that say whether you're a full year resident, part year resident, or non-resident. You'll check part year.
For the tax year in question go online to state of PA and ask for the part-year tax booklet and forms. Texas has no state income tax so you don't have to file there; you will only have to file and pay taxes on what you earned while a resident of the state of PA.
