yup agreed, babysitting is a great one, or you could walk dogs, my little brother takes pictures for some elderly people in town, he loves taking pictures and then no one misses the events they have at the nursing home because they are stuck behind the camera.

Tough age. Depends on the State but you usually can't get a work permit.
Babysitting usually works out well at that age. Get some good reference for friends and family members. Check with the Local Red Cross and take the first aid course and babysitting courses.
Offers of house and pet sitting while people are gone on vacation or long weekends also can work out well.

Since your transportation is probably limited, look at who you do have easy access to -- Your neighbors . Now look at what conditions (seasons, the economy) will have on them.
Find out what your neighbors need and figure out which of those needs you can help them with. Are they elderly? If so then lawn care and heavy lifting will be needed. Are there lots of families with small children? If so then babysitting might work.
Try to watch for the ‘gaps’ in your market and how someone could fill them. For example: Let's say a lot of homes on your block are old and drafty and everyone is concerned about high heating costs this winter. Do some online homework and post some flyers offering to give them an “Energy Makeover” for $20-$40 depending on the size of their house.
Then buy a chalking gun, some insulating foam, a couple of kits with plastic film for insulating windows. Costs: About $25 Income potential: $100-$300 on up before winter sets in. Then look at what they're needs are in winter..
Plus you can make a lot of new friends this way.

Go to your local library and request the book, "Fast Cash for Kids" by Bonnie & Noel Drew for some excellent ideas as well as stories of other kids that have actually become successful. Your Librarian should also be able to find other books with the same topic. There are two ways to make money: fill a need or create a need.
