How much does a vending machine business cost?

I am very sucessful and I work several jobs and make more than many adults a year. I am wondering how much is startup cost approximately for a drink machine and a snack machine and the snacks.

Answers:
Vending is a great business. I started my own full-time vending business several years ago. With that said I just want to warn you that there are LOTS of Biz-Opp salespeople who will promise you that this is the easiest business in the world. Of course they are trying to sell you $25,000 worth of equipment. Never buy from these guys - they are all rip-offs. You can start in this business for LESS THAN $2000 dollars, easily.

The last point I want to make is that this business does take time. If you are looking for this in addition to your current jobs you may not have the time to properly service your route. If you are looking to replace one or all your jobs then start small and build from there.

As far as how much vending machines cost; the answer to this question depends greatly on the type of machines you need and whether they are new or not. I run a route with lots of different types of machines. The best answer I can tell you is what I do; I only buy used machines - you get he best prices. I'll list the prices I pay for used machines.

Bulk Candy Machines - New $350 Used $100
Snack/Soda Combo Machines - New $5000 Used $500
Full Sized Snack or Soda - New $3000 Used $500
Spiral Gumball Machines - New $1500 Used $100

I hope this information helps!
Vending machines usually cost new between $1,000-$3,000 depending on the type of machine. Add the cost of product and you have a decent investment.

You must also consider the competition - big companies. You will also need the knowledge to repair each machine and be available. Every hour that goes by will cost you money.

Then the magic thought - location.
You make more than many adults? I thought that it takes a man and a woman to make a child, let alone make adults.

I believe that you could rent machines out to sell the product of your choosing, but that's probably not right or true for most cases.
Okay, I used to be in the vending machine business. Let me give you a few reasons why I got out.

1. It is very difficult to secure decent locations to place your machines.

2. The maintenance and upkeep on the machines is expensive and time consuming--especially the dollar acceptance devices.

3. Vandalism and theft nearly ruined me.

I'm sorry to sound negative and applaud your efforts to start a business. Vending sounds appealing because you place machines and watch the bucks roll in--at least that's what you hope. If you are planning to buy machines from a vendor you saw advertised on the net, in a magazine, etc. be sure to be wary of the testimonilas. some companies have paid references to tell you good things about their product.
