I clean houses & was wondering what licensed, bonded, & insured all meant and how I get them?
Answer:
Insurance in your instance would cover you or your employees doing damage et. al. to your clients property.
Being bonded covers employee theft on your client's premises. Business/Janitorial Services Bonds are relatively cheap. The amount of the annual premium is directly related to two things; (1) amount of coverage and (2) number of employees covered. An example would be for $10,000 in coverage with five or fewer employees the annual premium would be in the $120 range. Same amount of employees with $100,000 in coverage would be in the $350 range. There is usually a discount for pre-paying for three years of premium. FYI, almost all policies have a conviction clause. Meaning that the insurance company will not pay out any claims unless the person charged with the theft is convicted of the crime. Also, be carefull, some policies do not cover the owners.
licenses: you need to have a license to operate in most municipalities and some counties. check with your Chamber of Commerce, local library or call the city hall.
bonding and insurance is a matter that has to do with credit and background than can be answered in this forum but should be relatively cheap for you to get a bond by contacting your insurance company (or in some cases you may be eligible for state assistance if you are a member of a group that qualifies).
