I am thinking that i would like to open a motorcycle garage business that will invove selling brand new bikes as well as fixing/mot'ing other bikes. What sort of things do i need to consider?

Answer:
Firstly, you'll need to work out your captial requirement. It should be able to cover your rental, salaries, and other fixed overheads like utilities, telephone, etc for at lease six months to 12 months.
Secondly, you may also need to check with the relavant goverment agencies on licensing requirements.
Finally, you will need all your friends' and relatives' support to introduce bussiness to you.

Go to http://www.score.org/ and find the nearesr SCORE chapter. Call them and make an appointment with a SCORE counselor
Crack open the phone book under Business Advice, and try to find your Local Business Gateway. This is a government run service that has more info than you can imagine.

Bookshop is the next stop, read a few business books. There are so many titles along the lines of starting a business, that you cannot miss them.

Of course, you know your subject (You do, right?).
