Go to http://www.score.org/ and find the nearesr SCORE chapter. Call them and make an appointment with a SCORE counselor
Crack open the phone book under Business Advice, and try to find your Local Business Gateway. This is a government run service that has more info than you can imagine.
Bookshop is the next stop, read a few business books. There are so many titles along the lines of starting a business, that you cannot miss them.
Of course, you know your subject (You do, right?).
