How do people make money by setting up a web site and by getting hits or visits to the site?

Ive heard that people can get paid depending on the amount of hits to a particular site that they have set up, how is the money paid to the individual, what do I need to set this up and whats involved, who decides the amount per hit and is it a good way to make extra money?

Answers:
I would like to tell you as some others have rightly said that you can certainly make money by making a website putting ads on it and getting paid when somebody clicks on your ads.

If this sounds a rather simple way to make money let me tell you that making a website that works and makes money needs some doing. If that were not so, all websites would be making money which they do not.

In fact only a very few sites earn money. The reason for this is that you need to create a website that has useful content of a topic that is in demand by lots of people. It attracts traffic and is made in a pleasing though simple design. Such a site puts your visitors in a positive frame of mind. They feel that they are getting what they were looking for in the first instance. As a result they would be more inclined to click on your ads or look at and buy what you are selling -- your own or affiliate products.

Now the question is can you make such a site? The answer is yes provided you are prepared to work for it. That means there is no easy push-button way of making a successful site. At the same time it is not impossible to do that at all.

Set up the web cam and get undressed
Web sites that pay are usually company advertising
sales of product pay the company
as for sites with lots of hits, Google just bought YOUTUBE
for 1.65 billion dollars and they still haven't figured out how
to make any money out of it yet. talk about stupid business
decisions
There are dozens of ways to make money as long as you have visitors. Google adsense is one of them.

Although I haven't heard of making money just by recieving hits, (you may mean ad click throughs) you need some type of interaction or product or ad to make money!

This however can be accomplished in a relatively easy manner. You just need visitors which is usually the hard part...

There is so much information that I could post on this subject. So you may want to see the link below.
I have a website and i know how this works. You create a website and when people come and look at your website you have advertisements on it. Every time someone clicks on one of those advertisements you will get money. Here is the website i use to sell my ads. It's free, so why not try it. I don't keep my website up to date so i only get a few dollars, but it's still worth it because i don't have to pay anything for the ads. Click this link below and you can sign up to get ads on your website. when you get enough money, they just send you a check in the mail.

it is probably the best way of making money online. make a website , put content, monetize it and get people to go to that website. as your website becomes popular more people will come and visit so the chance of you getting money from that visit is high. but to do that you got to find those knowledge and learn.
