Selling on ebay?

can you put a reserve price on a itum even after people have started bidding on it

Answer:
Hi, you cannot but if you messed up you could still terminate the auction and start another one! Doing so would mean you'd lose the entry fee of course.
Items with reserve prices don't seem to get people involved too much but it's up to you how much you care about your item.
Nope, if you want a reserve price. Put it on there as you list it.

What you may be able to do, it place a SINGLE bid on the item yourself. You'll have to look up Ebays rules on this, but they may still have it set up where the seller can place a single bid on the item they have for sale. I have been selling on there since the mid 90's, it isn't something that I've ever needed to do, but I think it was and may still be an option.

Other than that, you can remove bidders and close the listing without any winners, and use the check box that there was an error in your listing, and relist the item with the reserve. If you have waited until the auction is almost over though. just to see if it would go as high as you wanted.. and I noticed you doing something like this. I would never bid on anything from you again. And am sure Ebay would take a dim view of it also. Be as fair to others as you would want them to be with you.

I don't think you can do that, but ask ebay's customer service.
