I want to compete with my current employer. Is it moraly and ethically alright to do this.?

I want to start up a new business and compete with my current employer. I kind of feel bad. The reason I feel like I need to do this, is I have stopped growing with in the company. I have been with this company and all I Know is this business. Is it ethically and Morally ok to to this? Please give me some advise.

Answer:
Absolutely!! That is the American Dream personified. A little competition is healthy anyway. My parents did the same thing. They worked in a direct mail factory for like 15 years and learned the ins and outs of the industry, but just as you said, the company didn't really offer them the room to grow. They opened their own direct mail company about 5 years ago and went from an annual income together of 65,000 a year to 350,000 a year.
GO FOR IT!!
Business is all about competition.work hard and you will be rewarded.I've seen it first hand. And as far as the guilt, that just means that you possess ethics, something everyone does not have. This is an asset. It will help you go further in your profession. People like to do business with ethical people.don't feel bad, just recognize that it is time to move on.
GOOD LUCK!
It fine, of course it is fine. There is no loyalty in business and you have to look out for yourself because nobody else is going to take care of you.
Business is dog eat dog
If they laid you off tomorrow, I know you would.
So why not?
Of course, it is the whole idea behind free enterprise. If your former boss cant survive, too bad for him. Competition makes us all better.
Totally, and good luck. Hopefully your current job has taught you well :-D
go full throttle and don't look back.
As long as you recruit your own customers and don't steal his, There is no ethical problem.
Go for it. A former employee competing against them may be just the kick in the pants they need to regain their competitive spirit. It will no doubt end in them crushing you to bits. Good luck.
Do it and don't look back, prospect for new business try not to steal his business. The only business that you take with you wouldn't be their if it wasn't for you in the first place. Use the ideas that you had when you worked for him that he didn't want to explore. Try flyers 50 a day. U will pass him up in a year.
It is unethical IF you purposely do your work poorly or steal customers, information, or technology at your current employer.

It is a ground for termination if your employment contract has the non-compete clause.

In the end, you'll find, such arrangement will not work, and if will quickly put you in very awkward position. Be sure you are well equipped to be on your own - as you will soon find yourself be.
