Products usually have the manufacturer's name on them.
And it is legal to bypass the distributor. But the mfgr will probably have an exclusive contract for distribution with the distributor (unless he is a total idiot).
HAVE YOU TRIED LOOKING THE PRODUCT UP ON THE WEB OR IS THERE AN ADDRESS ON THE PACKAGE? I'VE DONE THAT BEFORE AND GOT IT FOR ABOUT HALF OFF. GOOD LUCK.
If you have a sample of their product look at the product and/or any literature that came with the product.
