Can board members of a non profit organization re-write the bylaws each year to extend there stay on the board

I would like to know if the by laws can be written each year to extend the amount of time you can spend on the board of a non profit organization. example they say that a positione will be held for 2 years, but the board wants to extend it for 4 years. can this be changed each year if possible?

Answer:
If the voting members of the organization agree to this.
usually there is a meeting at least once a year where the membership is there (or at least invited). Usually the constitution and bylaws also tell what is the process for changing them and so you should read the stuff. Usually such changes require a vote by the membership, but you have to check the paperwork.
