They make a great couple. However I don't think you need to know either of these to accept money. Paypal and other online services provide you with code that you can put in your site to accept cash.
PHP is a free open-sourced server-side programming language with syntax roughly similar to ASP and client side languages such as C/C++ and Java. Basically you write code on your server for it to compile in real time to display to the customer/viewer.
MySQL is a free database system that has strong ties to PHP which is able to store data into tables similar to that of Microsoft Excel and data storage similar to that of Access.
Cash can be transfered electronically in several methods. A popular method is PayPal which is a secure and trusted way of transfering funds from one party to another. Customers can click "Pay with PayPal" button to be sent to a link to pay via PayPal. When you receive these funds, you would then send the product/package/service to the customer. If you do not, the customer can file a complaint with PayPal whom then can legally dispute the claim and then you might just lose your PayPal privledges.
