Who beleive in cold calling to get clients in sales via the phone and WHY?

I think cold calling is an EXCELLENT thing to do. (People who get them can groan here). The reason I say so is that you're calling people under the worst circumstances. If you can sell from cold calling, you can sell in any other capacity. So, it's kind of a long-term development technique.
BUT it also depends on what you're selling. When you're selling non-tangible products cold calling makes more of a difference than when you're selling - say - vacuum cleaners. With tangible products, people need to see it, hear it, hold it, and try it out. Intangibles (loans, insurance, investments, etc) are more easily sold by cold calling.
