I am researching where to buy videos to start a video rental store. Where do blockbuster, or family video buy
Answer:
I agree with the last answer. I'll add that your best bet if you're dead-set on getting a store is to franchise with one of the mid-range chains. The non-corporate chains are usually regional and will get a decent price from the studios. Unless you're opening a porn store, there's no reason to go solo. Then again, if you ARE opening a porn store, you probably are trying to go solo (if you know what I mean).
You have to goto a trade show. The ones I know of are in NYC and vegas
There you find the right people to get you started.Maybe google trade show
The chains have agreements directly with studios and distributors. Because they're buying in bulk -- Blockbuster may be one of the largest non-retail buyers of DVDs in the country -- they get great pricing that you, as an independent, cannot.
Given the market dominance of the retail chains like Blockbuster, Hollywood Video and Movie Gallery, and the phenomenal growth in popularity of subscription-based rentals, as well as the beginnings of a rental-by-download market, I would suggest finding another business to get into. Retail video rental is a dying sector. The more research you do, the quicker you'll see that.
