I am small business owener and I need a health insurance just for myself. Is there any good plan for that?
Answer:
I think the best way is to do some research on your own and then get in touch with local health insurance agents or brokers. I say more than one because talking with more agents will give you more ideas, see more health plan products, and – most importantly – get several different insurance agents competing two earn your business. Many people don’t realize it, but insurance plans aren’t any cheaper online than they are through an agent.
The National Associated for the Self-Employed (see link below) has some good information. They have a health care Web site with some good information as well (also below). Also, some states have group-purchasing pools for small businesses and the self-employed.. The downside is that purchasing pools are relatively new and it’s unclear how much savings they really offer.
Depending on the kind of business you’re in, there may be a trade association you can join and get group health insurance through them. Some states have looser restrictions on health insurance through trade associations, meaning that you would pay less for insurance and get more coverage options. I’ve included a link below to state insurance departments – it might be a good idea to contact them or your local chamber of commerce to see if they have any ideas. I’ve also included a link to an online guide to small business health insurance. It’s simple but it might give you some ideas.
Oh, one last link (below). It’s to a recent Consumer Reports article about association health insurance scams.
After you’ve done some researching, try visiting MostChoice.com. You fill out a short form, they send you information on health plans available in your state, and local state-licensed insurance agents contact you within 48 hours to talk about what you’re company needs in a group health plan. It’s free and you’re not required to buy anything from the agents who contact you. Just wait until one of them delivers an insurance solution that makes sense for you and your company. And be up front; let them know you’ve done the research. Just write down what you and your family want in a health plan and present it to the insurance agents. Let them do the heavy lifting.

Go to whatever insurance company you think you may want insurance from and go their website. Many companies offer individual coverage that I think is at a reasonable cost. You can get decent one person coverage for about $200.00 per month and up. Good luck.
Contact your local chamber of commerce. They normally have group policies for their members.
First, figure out what type of plan you are looking for. There are essentially two kinds of heath insurance: Fee-for-Service and Managed Care. Although these plans differ, they both cover an array of medical, surgical and hospital expenses. Most cover prescription drugs and some also offer dental coverage.
Since you a choice of plans and you need to purchase your own coverage, it is crucial that you understand your health insurance choices and pick the insurance that is best for you and your family.
Here are some questions you should ask yourself when choosing a health insurance plan:
How affordable is the cost of care?
Does the insurance plan cover the services I am likely to use?
What is the quality of the insurance plan I’m looking at?
It is a good idea to check with a qualified insurance agent before purchasing a health insurance policy. Health policies can get very complex and can hidden coverages/non-coverages. Try going to http://www.insureme.com/landing.aspx?ref. This web site will allow you to compare prices and find the best price and coverage. It is free of charge and they even give you the option to speak to local agents if you have questions.
I hope that helps!
