I am thinking of starting a laundry service that picks up and delivers your laundry to and from your home.?

I would be charging a $1 a pound for laundry ( shirts, pants, etc)
$20 full - cal king comforters
$15 Twin comforters
$6 for throws

I would give your business a try, possibly. I have used laundry services before and always lost some of our possessions - a downer.

The pickup/delivery seems the best part of your service.

Before you get too far, consider the cost of fuel. Could you still deliver if prices went up? Did you factor that into your plan?

No, but that's just because I'm cheap. It's a good idea though. Almost as good as having a maid.
I think that this is a great idea but you do need to do more research on heavy duty machines, cost of water, soap, spotting fluids, softener, etc....Gas for cars, maintenance on the cars and machines, insurance, business licenses.
Washers are being made for the purpose of large comforters (got one myself) so I wouldn't use a service. But you have to make sure you are bonded and insured in case something gets ruined, your car gets in an accident..stolen...ect... luck!

You may be thinking who would pay for such a service and would it even work but it could definitely work. This business from home could do rather well. The business is just as it sounds, they drop off their laundry, and you wash, dry, fold and iron the clothes. Customers could possibly supply you with the laundry detergent and fabric softener of their choice and hangers for anything needing to be put on a hanger rather than fold.

You can start this business by posting flyers around your neighborhood, at daycares, the local grocery mart and the like. I would love a service just as this if reasonably priced. A few loads a day could easily add up! Your $1/lb sounds reasonable.

You could add a twist to this business and pick up any DRY CLEANING customers may need so they only have to make one trip to your home. Positive: Doing this while at home can be a winner in the financials. Track water and electric bills to factor that into the fee charged to customers. Negative: It may take you some time to get regular customers but word of mouth goes a long way! Be sure to drop off some flyers at the local corporate offices where you know they work fulltime and may not have the time to do their own laundry - perfect for you!
