If you were in a small business before what about doing bookwork out of your house for other businesses. You would just go to their place of work and set them up and check in 1-2 times a month and do their month end and such. Other than that I would need to know more of what your skills are and what you are interested in. If you are comfortable on the computer than maybe expand on that. Take some night courses to upgrade yourself from a community college and some of there courses will enable you to do future work out of your home. Good Luck
You are not giving exact details. It is actually a decision related to life & without exact details its not good to rely on other peoples decisions. But coming to the food industry, it is actually a Fast moving industry as well as the food items(essentials) are required in daily life. Even though there may be short term losses in this business, if you identify the new ways of presenting the business properly you will get good returns. I feel you just have to change the mode of operating your business and i am sure 100% you can find a way to do that also.
