Post a flyer in an Allergy doctor's office. Most of us allergy sufferers have problems mowing our own grass. And you know those paper placemats at some restaurants? Put an advertisement there. And try to find a restaurant the older crowd go to.
Word of mouth is the best way. It may take a while to get a lot of customers but they'll stick around a lot longer.

YES... Start cutting peoples grass for free. Then leave a note on their door that you cut their grass for free as a courtesy and good jesture in hopes they may someday need their grass cut,,,,,Then leave your price sheet with your name and phone number.. Or you could knock on their door and you could ask them if they want their grass cut.. You can get a feel of it to see if there is a possibility of future business. If you get the feeling and they tell you No for now and you know their grass needs it then say..OK...I tell you what.. May I cut your front yard free of charge for you today and leave you my price sheet? I believe they will be shocked and then you will probably have repeat business and get paid the next time.Be reasonable with your prices.. I use to hire someone who always charged me a flat fee of $21.95 including tax and I could always afford that.
