Restaurant Marketing?
Answer:
Get his restaurant on the web - with online ordering if he's doing take out. There are hundreds of options in that venue. Many are putting the sites up FOR FREE. I am impressed with Menuplicity.com and with simpledine.com - though there are many, many others.
I just left that industry and can tell you - privately - who to stay away from. Contact me through my Yahoo Answers profile.
Now - where to fish for ideas for the here and now:
(I left my volumes of research on this with my last employer - so this is the short version!)

There are literally dozens of places on the web - with thousands of incedible ideas.
The most important ideas are those that focus on your current customer base. If you are not keeping a record of who they are and reaching out to them - you may be losing business.
You can tell that I'm passionate about this arena. I spent the past four years studying and planning and hoping for a product launch and developed a marketing campaign to beat all. BUT - the boss wouldn't build or follow a Business Plan or a Marketing Plan - and the whole thing is going to *$&%^. I had to leave.
Like I said - contact me if I've just thrown you a curve ball. I'll try to settle down and give you an organized approach!
Good Luck with this!
