Any entreprenuers out there? If so, what do you do and how successful are you?

Also when did you decide to step out on your own and start your own business and how much money did you spend? I need some inspiration on starting my own business(es). thnx..

Answer:
You need to pluck up the courage to take the plunge and just do it. Too many people want to be entrpreneurs but just cannot bring themselves to step out of their comfort zone.

If you don't start now, you will put it off until you will never do it.

Prepare yourself, study, train, observe and learn from those who have become successful. Don't model yourself after losers. Don't even listen to them, because you will absorb their way of thinking and will end up like them.

As to how much to spend to start your own business, as you can expect, it depends on what kind of business you choose. There is a vast difference between, say, opening a big fancy restaurant and starting a small retail business.

You can start off on your own, as a one-man-show. You'll soon learn the ropes, then expand when necessary. You can get an assistant, hire more staff, buy more equipment, even open another branch. If you're able to, go for it. But you also have to be hard-headed and cool when making decisions. If you feel you're not making it, cut your losses and do something else.

One of the cheapest ways of setting up a business is on the Internet. But having a website is only the start of lots of hard work. You have to get down to marketing yourself and your business. If you give quality work or products, you'll get there, sooner rather than later.

A business needs to make profit, meaning your revenue works out to more than your expenses. If you manage to do that within the first 6 months, you're doing great. If it isn't happening, re-think your options and move on.

However, my personal advice is to keep away from multi-level marketing or any business which involves down-lines, up-lines and muliple layers of sellers / buyers between yourself and your sales source. Most of them will not make you money, or bring in very little income if at all.

Good luck.

Excellent question! I got tired of going to work every day and making my boss look good and get larger bonuses than me. So, that is when I decided to start my own business and work from the comfort of my own home. I only work about 2-3 hours a day and make a nice income.

Your inspiration is to find out where courses are being offered by the Small Business Administration in your area. They will instruct you on how to do your 5-year business plan prior to opening your own business. This plan will tell you how much money you would need upfront and how much you will need to spend monthly.

Working your own business takes 80 hours per week, every week until it is profitable. Most small businesses fail within the first 3 years (and take a loss), but those that survive begin to make a profit in 4 or 5 years. It's the making the small profit that spurs them on to continue working at their own business.
I think how much you spend to start your business depends on what kind of business it is and what your expertise is when you start. If you are alreay in the field and just breaking out, it's not much of a risk. Any way you cut it, you need 6 months to a year of savings to live on until the cash flow gets going.

I'm in real estate so it didn't take much to get rolling but I had my old part-time job to fall back on (many many years ago). If you want to start a new business in a new field, maybe it would be better to work for someone else in that field and learn the ropes?
I make primitive weaponry such as Slings and Bows and sell them online. I got started by following the tips in the http://emoney.ztweb.biz/ "More Money Ideas" section, and using http://www.sba.gov/ for reference on tax info and raising capital. I'd also suggest the books "Small Business for Dummies" and "Entrepreneurship for Dummies."

Remember, do what you love to do, and just run with it!
