Does anyone know what legal stuff is involved with owning an icecream/fish&chip van?

Hi. im interested in opening a fish and chip van which i will travel aorund in etc. what lega stuff will this require i do. e.g. - insurance, do i need to become a company, and other help would be appreciated - especially from someone who owns one of these or soemthing very similar.also do you have to be careful where u go and sell so that you dont move in on 'other peoples ground/patch' thanks.

Answer:
You need to register with the environmental health dept. at your local council and also the inland revenue, you do not need to become a company you can work as a sole trader. Try to get a pitch first as you will need to build up a steady trade to get you up and running, car boot sales or markets? Also try around the retail and business parks,if you can find out who the landlords are of these places its best to approach them direct, you will also need public liability insurance and a basic food hygiene certificate.
I wish you luck, its hard work but go the distance and the rewards can be high,i used to work my own burger van and the profits can be really good.
There is some info about them here
