Why do people call it a dollar store when some things in the store is more then a dollar??

i went into a dollar store the other day and there were things in there that were more then a dollar.

Answer:
it was probably a dollar general, which means any dollar in general. but then theres the actual dollar store and thats everythings a dollar.
A real dollar store has everything for a dollar.
The ones that do not are frauds in my book.
Its just a outlet like Big Lots.
If it is a true dollar store (like the dollar tree) then everything does cost a dollar. Usually stores that sell things for more than a dollar are called .99 Plus. Which means some things cost a dollar and some things cost more.
Its called 'marketing' - and it got you in the store, right?
it was an imposter! the punks
It's called a marketing ploy. The name is catchy and the majority of the stuff in there IS at least a dollar or less.
all are part of advertising campaign to get the general people into the store and have a look at their wares and in the end buy some things from their store!
'cause the take Dollars? ;-)
Dollar is your mother base currency in international market.the logic is you are working against the dollar not with the dollar.for example if you want to buy another currency you have to first sell the dollar and buy other currency.its depend on market flectuation some time dollar value is high or some time other currency.
I've always chuckled when I see Mercedes-Benz's, BMW's, and Cadillacs parked outside Dollar Stores. That person is willing to spend close to $100,000 for a car but shops at a dollar store.

Some reason the irony cracks me up
Adollar store is considered a dollar store if more than 51% of the items they have is a dollar or less .
