Dear Everyone! Do English and British people like Hungarian Products, like wines, food etc? Thanks.Babus x?

Hi,
I would like to open a Hungarian shop around Borogh Market in London but before that I need to make sure my products match my future customers' taste.
In my knowledge there is only one shop like this outside of Hungary ,and that is in New York, more than successful I must say.
Could anyone help me-preferable English or British opinion-about how successful Hungarian products would be in England or how much peolpe know about Hungary in this country,do they like or dislike Hungary? Also I would be more than greatful for business tricks or what to watch out for, people who have experience of business set-up!
Thank you very much for all your help and all the best!

Best wishes:
Babus x

Answer:
the british are english

london is a cosmopolitan city its just about every country there so may do quite fine
I've only had Goulash but it's delicious
I don't think people dislike Hungary. I can recall the sympathy that was felt for that country in the time of the uprising. I think Londoners would welcome a chance to sample Hungarian products. Speaking as a Londoner who knows Borough market well, I reckon you would do well in that area . Good luck.
We all enjoy different tastes in food, and if the wine is alcoholic we will drink it. Personally, provided it is not an unusual animal that has been slaughtered you should be ok. Present it well and go for it. Just look at the non English restaurants that are thriving, more opening every day.
I think it would do well if marketed correctly , contemporary etc.
The brits don't dislike Hungarians and probably need some education about the culture , on the whole brits are open to new dishes and especially wines.
Love The wine, not sure about other stuff. But major supermarkets about to branch out and stock Polish food due to mass influx of Polish people. Reckon all foods from Eastern-European Countries are likely to take off over next year as more countries join EU.

I am a Canadian scientist that spent a few years in England about 10 years ago. My observations were that the British market would take imported meats and cheeses. The local sausages had more filler than meat product and most of the meat product was grease. A good quality Hungarian salami might do well. The British have a refined taste for a wide variety of cheese and I think that many Britons would at least try a novel introduction. If you came to Canada, you would face a lot of competition. There are at least a dozen Hungarian shops in my region, so I find your comment that there is only one shop in New York hard to believe. I would recommend that you do more market research. Good luck.
I'm Hungarian, but I'm sure they'd love Pick salami and our brandies and wines.
You should not only sell the Hungaricums but also movies and music. You could also attach a little Hungarian restaurant to your shop. Perhaps after a while there could be a third attachment, a museum as well.
Finally, don't forget that there is a notable Hungarian minority too in England.

Good luck :)
i have honestly not come accross much in the way of hungarian food, but this is due to lack of knowledge, maybe you should try and educate people into liking it as im sure you have asked this question to see if importing is a viable idea.
Sorry i've never tried hungarian food or wine so i wouldn't know but why don't you go round the streets with tasters to see what the public think of the food- you'll need to look proffessional though so maybe hold a table or carry a posh tray round!
Good luck!
Rather than opening a shop you may be better trying a stall and take it from there. But most continental foods and wines are acceptable to the British people nowadays. Good luck.
