What is the best bank to open an account with for international transactions?

small exporting business

Answer:
And where in the world are you?

Assuming you are in the U.S., I would recommend Citibank; they are the only bank I know that allows you to send wire transfers (including international ones) via their online banking application. Since you do most of the work yourself, fees on wires are correspondingly lower ($12.50 vs. customary $30-35); plus, you don't need to go to a branch every time you need to send a wire.

Whether or not you will end up choosing Citibank, you still need to ask about online wire transfers when you interview your potential banks. This functionality is important for international business.
Hsbc is quite good option.
