Need to find out what the going rate is and to find sample bid sheets for cleaning business?

starting my own cleaning business

Answer:
I found the sites below to be extremely helpful when I first started my cleaning business back in 2001. (I don't own them)

http://www.tristarinternet.com

and

http://www.bigmop.com

Bigmop used to have (i think they still do) bid sheets and even a bid estimator. I think they charge for that now though, they didn't then. It is worth a look though. You might want to take a look at the forums too, It is cool to look at the questions I asked awhile back ago. I asked about bidding on a bank...... oh those were the days. :) Here is the link to the forums:

that takes you to the really old posts when they first opened.

Good Luck!
I have owned my own cleaning business for over 20 years. It is hard tedious work. You have two choices: be a one man cleaning business or have a crew.

Many cleaning companies have one, two or more crews of TWO that have a regular schedule each week. The boss of the company oversees their work and pays them by check and bills the customers. If you open a business and work independently you have less headaches but you can only do so much work and that is it.

The going rate depends on where you are from. I lived on border of CA and NV and did both areas. The going rate here is $15-$25 hr. Depends on if it is a crew or by yourself. You charge by the "man hour".

You need to do research in your city or town and see what others are charging. Ask around, look at adds in paper, call companies. Then if you can be just below them you may get started easier.

Unfortunately, everyone thinks they can clean so make sure you know what you are doing and train your people. It took me the first year just to figure it all out and I have a program that I followed. You have to be fast and thorough. Always clean top to bottom, left to right. This makes the best cleaning and you wont miss things to clean. Always move everything on a counter to clean under. Make sure you use the right products. And keep in mind if you use less chemicals your health will be better. Research healthy cleaning products.
