I am starting out in wholesale clothing. where I can showcase my stuff so that retailers know I exist?

As stated by one of your earlier responses, you should, by all means, consider attending a trade show. Of course this depends on your business model and how far you wish to penetrate the market. Also, wholesale clothing can also be listed by the type of clothing you wish to sale. I am assuming just general clothing which includes pants, shirts and perhaps jackets. Questions you should ask yourself would be:
1. District sales? - local and surrounding area, usually within 100 miles of your business location.
2. Regional sales? - perhaps 2 to 6 states surrounding your business location.
3. Nationwide sales? - includes all states.
You may go to these websites to obtain dates and locations of trade shows covering your area of interest. Once there always check to see who are the exhibitors and what are the requirements for exhibiting. At these trade shows retailers attend to revamp their inventory or look for the next "hot" item. Always remember, a trade show placement in a large city provides more "viewing" eyes and the strong potential for your clothing to be seen.

You can rent a little cart in your local mall, and try to sell and showcase some on that. Eventually, if you stuff is "hot" then people will buy it, and you can open an actual shop in the mall.
