Can you make a decent living off of selling items on amazon/ebay?

I've been making about 400 every two weeks by using ebay and amazon reselling items i get from yard sales and stuff. I only spend my weekends doing it but i was wondering if i invested full time would i be able to make a decent living and pay my bills? my bills are around 2000 a month. I ask because i might be between jobs soon. Thanks

I think you would definately need to find a better source than just yard sales for it to be feasible. It's something I considered when I needed a break/change in my life, but the one thing I wanted to escape from (deadlines) would still be there.

I'll tell you what I looked at and what I felt made the most sense. At first I liked the idea of drop shippers, where they do the shipping for you and you don't put out any money upfront. The problem with that is they obviously charge more for that convenience, and unless you are selling a LOT it didn't seem worth it to me. Also in this economy, most of the prices I was seeing just seem too high. I couldn't see making a lot that way.

What I did see is that there are a few local chains that sell at close to wholesale prices. I saw others on Ebay selling those items and making at least a 50% markup. I decided that would be the way to go if I did it. I would see if you have anything like that near you, combine it with your yard sale stuff and give it a shot. Just be sure the store has a return policy. Then it's all a safe bet.

My feelings are making a living at Ebay can and is being done, but like most things in life, to be successful you need to put in the time and work. It's not just going to happen.

One other thing I noticed FWIW. Many shoppers seemed to do better when they had basically a "theme." I wasn't sure why because that didn't really make sense to me, but seemed like Ebay stores that had either one basic type item or more likely theme IE "Everything Pets" seemed to do well. But poke around the site, see for yourself. And even though it costs more, I've read over and over how much more those with good pics and layouts make.

Good luck if you go for it! At least you could set your own hours which is always nice!
You can but make sure that you are buying quality merchandise that you are going to sale. You would also probably have to devote more time to your business.
seem you already have the answer .. spending more time might help.. put in a few more days... add a few more things but id keep any job that you have has long as you can . you know they are more stable.
