Bill Gates is a very successful entrepreneur! Of course he belongs to a rich family right from the start, but well he is the richest man on earth for generations to come!
Bill Gates had education in math and an emerging field, ability to recognize the business opportunity, ability to be inventive, and ability to go out on his own, he protected his inventions by owning them.
If you would like to be like Bill Gates, you may consider getting education in the field of nanotechnology, engineering, or robotics.
It is alot of luck too. Dont fool yourselves, hard-work is needed but hard-work doesnt make anybody rich by itself.
That said Bill Gates has a few things going for him. He was in the eve of the computer, he was rich enough that he did not have to concentrate on earning a living, he is a literal genius, and an excellent opportunist (stupid IBM should have owned microsoft but they were oblivious).
If you become a chemist and come up with a process for manufacturing durable long fiber nanotubes then you can dwarf bill gates.
Or become a physicist and build a quantum computer.
Or learn to invest so that you can beat Warren Buffet (who is soon to be richer than Bill Gates)
Any way you look at it, without a good bit of opportunity to run with you face a very daunting task.
