What is the average pay for babysitting?

like depending on the # of kids and pets and cleaning?

Answer:
I would think that if you could locate a local daycare center in your area, it would be a good place to start and ask an hourly rate.. it all depends on amount of time per day, amount of children and the hours you need the services.. If cleaning and cooking is involved and if it is at your home or theirs.. all things to consider when determining the cost of a sitter
5-10 dorras an hour
Depends on your state and your area.
4 $ hour for child 3-12 years
6 $ hour for child 18 mon- 3 years
duoble for problum children
3 $ for small pet
4 $ for large pet
10 $ for cleaning
i pay my sitter 12 dollars a day but on weekend nights i have to pay 25 for the night and that is for 1 kid. when i have both my kids she charges me 20 dollars a day and 30 dollars for a weekend night
Varies a lot. Mostly based on your own skill level, number of kids, and other expectations as you cite.
If you are young (13-17), with little experience and watching one child don't expect more than minimum wage thats fair. If they expect you to do jobs around the house (cleaning, pets, etc.) that don't apply to the kid, ask for a few more dollars an hour.
If you are inexperienced its not exactly double the kids double the money but you should ask for more. If minimum wage is $5 for 2 kids I'd ask for $8 an hour. Age of kids is also a factor, I'd ask for $8 for one if it was a small infant, but you really need experience for this anyway.
If you have a good deal of experience, are over 18, have training (cpr, etc.) you should expect more. Double minimum wage at least.
If its private babysitting just for people you know, usually you can sit down and work out whats fair. Ask what they wanted to pay and tell how much you expect (don't jip yourself just because you know people, a service is a service), most people are willing to negotiate if you'll prove to be a steady, reliable sitter.
