Can a grandparent leave their house in trust to 2 minor grandchildren who are siblings?

A friend of mine mother just passed away and from what she was told the house was left in trust to her to boys who are minors under the age of 15. Who pays the mortgage and can they live there now?? Please help Thanks

Answer:
The trust documents should list who will be in charge of the estate until the children are old enough. If there is no money to pay the mortgage then the house will be sold and the money from the proceeds will be put into a trust account in the childrens names. With out more information its really hard to say. Your friend should contact her mothers attorney or whom ever drew up the will and discuss it with them.
You'd need more information. I'd say it can be done and it
could be that the mortgage has been paid off before she
died. They could probably live there with their parent/guardian.
You can leave anything to anyone when you leave this big ole earth. What your mother's friend need to do is find out who's the trustee on this house. The trustee is the person in charge of the trust with the two children as benificaries of the trust. Most likely there house is either fully paid off or there's income coming from other investment owned by the trust to pay the mortgage off. If not then the trustee will need to figure out how best to pay the mortgage off.
