When you buy a house, why do you have to buy all the dirt?
Answer:
I agree - wives and girlfriends cost a lot. Pay for a little extra dirt
in case you get a good rain and some washes away. Get about
a foot and a half. Put your promise in writing and put up a cash
bond - that will save even more money.
Don't worry. Your subsurface rights have already been stripped away and sold to someone else. You are indeed only buying the 1st foot or so anyway.
Well, land almost always increases in value so if and when you sell it you are almost guaranteed a profit. On the other hand you will have to pay taxes on the property. It's really up to you.
It is kind of empowering to feel like a piece of land is really YOURS and you can do anything you want with it.
The dirt comes along with the house. For more details, ask your house insurance person.
your really pay for the utilities that the goverment put on your land
thats why it cost so much
i just don't know...wish i did
maybe buy you a Mac or a Peterbuilt and just live in rest areas so you don't have to buy the dirt and air at all
