What is section 8 housing?

what exactly is section 8 housing, who is quilified, and how do you apply?

Answers:
Section 8 is a program offered by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development designed to assist low and moderate income individuals afford to rent a house or apartment. Qualifications are based on the median income for your area, so that varies from area to area. Applying usually involves going to your local community housing agency. There are often long waiting lists for inclusion into the program.

You can get more information here:

A landlord will not help you receive Section 8 assistance. You must go to the rental agency in your city or county.
Low Income Housing for people. You can find out the qualifications directly from the Landlord when you obtain an Application of Occupancy. Just ask them by phone, email, US Mail and you will get their guidelines and GOOD LUCK! :-)
it's the house after section 7
section 8 is a service when you rent a house and then section 8 (if you have that service) pays half of your rent for you. Any one is qualified, if your income isn't high or the persons that you live with. And you apply by asking your landlord about it or just going down to the building which i don't know the address hoped this helped you. good luck
Hi,
Section 8 housing is when the government helps a person pay some of their rent. This is because the person either has some sort of disability, or does not have the income to afford the place on their own. So the qualifications for this type of welfare depends on each persons situation, and gets reviewed. I would suggest that you or whomever is looking into this type of welfare, that it would be even better for you to get educated and look for a way to avoid the whole section 8 thing to start with. It would be better for you to aspire to a higher standard of living and take control of your life and get a good paying job so you can save for the nicer things in life including retirement. No one can do this for you except yourself. Good luck, and shoot for the best in life.not the bottom rung of the ladder.
