Why do people always blame realtors for not selling their home when they have it overpriced?

Answer:
Sometimes if is bad advice on the real estate agent's part (but mostly not), many times it is the unrealistic "wants" or "needs" by a seller that feels they "need" a set dollar to get out. Sometimes it is greed. And nearly always neither the seller nor agent will take the blame when the fault lies with them.

If you are buying a home and fear the price may be high condition the purchase on the appraisal value equaling or exceeding the contract price or failing that the sale price is to be adjusted down to the appraisal value or you as buyer may declare the deal null and void, with all parties to the contract held harmless and released from further obligation to the contract, with Buyer's earnest money returned without reserve.
It's a way of saving face.
My friend's house has been on the market for 3 months and she does not have it overpriced. This is just not a good time to be selling.
The housing price is set by an appraiser chosen by the realtor. The price is then decided upon by the realtor & the homeowner(s). If the home's overpriced, keep looking. Are you an appraiser & you know for certain & without one doubt that the home you're deeming overpriced really is so?
Ego-defense.
People have been use to the prices going up over the past five years that they think their house is worth more. People don't realize the market has changed and are holding out for their price. Of course its the Realtors fault, Right?
It appears Realtors are always the ones to blame. People should have more respect for us.

Because in the past 3 years, the very same realtors told buyers to pay up at all cost, ARMs, cashing 401K, 0% down, etc.
Because it is easier to blame others than to look at ones own actions.
