City Ordanances?
Answers:
While some cities have this information on line (look for the city planning, zoning or development pages of your cities website), some don't. I know my county has 118 pages of county zoning information. And it is frustrating trying to wade through it.
It may be worthwhile to take a drive to your city zoning department and ask them about whatever ordinances are in place that will effect your structure.
Most city ordinances are not online. You often have to go to the library and wade through volumes of information to find them. You can call your local building enforcement office and ask them but be aware that you are relying on a clerk's interpretation of the law if you do. Nonetheless, I have found them very knowledgeable and helpful and I have worked in many different areas of the country. It is a good place to start, if you question what they tell you have them provide you a copy of the ordinance and then you can look it up yourself at the library.
Finally, you can consult an attorney but that may be too costly for just building a storage shed.
call your municpal's inspections office to find out the weblink if they have one. if not i'm sure they will inform you of where to go because you will likely have to pull a permit to build if they have rules governing your issue. you also might check with your subdivision's homeowners association for covenants that restrict plot lines, heights, colors etc.
Call the city and ask
Go to http://www.realestateformnm.com/realrese... and look in your State listings, there should be a link there for ordinances
The first person said that they normally aren't online, but my city's are. You might just want to check your local website and make sure before making it harder on yourself if you don't need it to be.
