My boyfriend wants to build a house in spain.?
do you think hes being an idiot? i dont even want to live in spain. is this a good idea or a waste of money.
Answers:
Let him build the house, just don't pay anything for it yourself!
It is almost always a terrible idea to get into a joint property ownership situation with someone you are not married to. I can't imagine how the fact that the house is in Spain might complicate that further.
Let him build his house. Go visit as much as you like. Just stay out of it financially!
it depends if iz a summer get away then thats a really good idea ;but if you are never going to live in it then iz a waste of money unless someone else is going to live in it. but maybe he wants to live in spain also
look, its not a good idea but its not a waste of money, i mean spain is amazing, but your 20 years old! i mean my opinion is go to college first. and right now why use so much money to live in spain, its EXPENSIVE! dont go now! go when you retired in the countryside, thats not a waste, but now, pssh you have your whole life ahead of you, but this is my opinion go with your feelings you make the decision but im saying spain will complicate your life.
It may not be a waste of money, but there are lots of things to consider. You don't want to live in Spain; presumably he will not want to do so either, so the thing would not be a primary residence. But it could be suitable as a rental, or simply to be sold for a profit. That requires study of the Spanish real estate market, and it will be necessary to be familiar with the Spanish rules for buying, selling, and owning real estate as well. Obviously, knowledge of Spanish construction technology will be useful as well; it may be quite different from technology used in the US or elsewhere. If he plans to do a lot of the work himself, does he have the skills and the time? Building a house can be both profitable and fun, but you need to know what you are doing.
