Is Colorado a good place to buy a home? Are values in CO likely to increase substantially in the next 5 years?

I heard somewhere that CO is an up-and-coming place to buy, but now I can't seem to find any solid information to support this. Not that I have found anything to the contrary either, I just have nto been able to find much reliable info about the predicted CO housing market trends. Does anyone have insight into this or advice where I can read about promising housing markets?

Answers:
Colorado native here (Denver metro area) and to address the "up and coming place to buy" I think that we have already seen that come and go. The economy here in Colorado is great, but the housing market is flat. On average yearly appreciation is about 3%. It use to easily be 8-9%! (ex: buy a home for $200k in '07 and in one year you'll gain 3% or $6000) That is ONLY for single-family homes and not condos or townhomes. I personally predict an improvement in housing and lending in the last quarter of the year. I hear good things about Phoenix and Las Vegas right now in terms of markets. Good Luck!
