Is anyone enjoying living on a barge/houseboat and why?

never lived on one, but have visited a friend living on one and although your conscious of being on a moored boat they are quite cosy and compact, about ultilities i have no knowledge, but a liitle "pong" as tide ebbs
I don't live on one, but the idea has always appealed to me. I think its the part of me that is a free spirit that likes the idea. I love home comforts, but to be able to move on whenever I pleased seems a great thing!
Why would you want to live on a houseboat/barge? If you are buying it, your money is better spent on some LAND.
