What do you know about Las Cruces as option to live. Weather, cost of living, properties, good areas to live?

Regards
I love Las Cruces. While I have never lived there, I have visited there many times. While it is in the desert and pretty hot in the summer it is very dry and neither the heat nor cold is as difficult as in more humid places. I have a friend who has lived all his life in Tucson. He says that in the summer one stays indoors where the air conditioning is. Other than hot and dry, I think Las Cruces is charming. It is a small city. Easy to negotiate the traffic. There is a good college there. The costs that I have met as a visitor were very reasonable. There appear to me to be several different levels of neighborhoods from very modest to very expensive and all levels in between. Even the most humble areas that I saw were neat and clean. I found the people to be friendly. Everyone seems to get along, both Anglo and Hispanic. If you go there and like it let me know.
Las Cruces is a very nice place to live and alot better climate than Albuquerque yet close enough if you want to go to some of the best Medical Centers in New Mexico. And yes it very affordable especially if your moving from the West Coast! We bought property in Deming and can't wait to retire and enjoy some great year round weather.Elephant Butte Lake is not to far and either is El Paso TX if you want even more shopping or Doctors.Try it you'll like it .But watch out for NM mexican food it is the hottest we have ever eaten and we have lived in Ca. ,AZ & TX !
Boy it gets hot. But it is so culturaly rich and so much to do. I've been in NM since 1967 and in real estate in the northern part since the 70's so I can tell you that NM is not about one area or city but about all of the state. If you like to see 400+ year history and cultures and like the lady said incredible food then anywhere in NM is the place. No hurricanes, no earthquakes there are stories of aliens nearby though lol.
