Is it hard working for a real estate company?

I'm a young man looking for a quality job, and I want to know if starting a job in real estate is a good option. Please write back.

Answer:
Contrary to popular belief, realtors do more than just golf and fish most of the day. Being a realtor is not as easy as you might think. First, it takes at least 60 hours of training to get your license. Then, you must pass your state's licensing exam.

When you start working in an office, don't plan on seeing a paycheck for at least 3-4 months. Even if you sell a house on your first day, you probably won't see that check for at least 30 days because it will take that long for the sale to close.

Since it will be some time before you are paid you should probably have some money in the bank before you start your new career. Most people will tell you that you should have 6 months of living expenses in the bank.

Most of your early career will be spent prospecting for new leads that is, people who want to buy or sell. Your best market will be what is called your 'sphere of influence' that is, friends and former co-workers. You will probably be chasing after For Sale by Owners (FSBO's) for new listings. Don't get discouraged. You have to make at least 20 contacts to get 1 appointment and probably 5 appointments before anything will develop.

You might rely on your broker for a lead or two but if he's a good broker, he will distribute them evenly among others in the office so you're going to have to go out there and find your own business.

My advice to you is to join a borkerage that will offer you a structured training program and help obtaining some leads. Most of your national brokerages have such programs. The competition in the office will probably be intense but you'll receive a good solid background.

Good Luck and feel free to e-mail me if you have any other questions.

If you know what your doing and went to school for it yes, it's a fine
job making lots of money. I want to go to school for it myself and will
if anything.
If you have the stamnia, know how and salesmanship it can be a very profitable job to have. Of course, it's not a job that you will make quick money. It takes a lot of time and hardwork to make big money.
