Are there actually privately owned rentals that have chosen?
I was told this by a HUD office. And then told to "come get the list". List across town and list not on 'net. Asked, "Are there some decent ones?". Said, "Well it's up to you to look at them . . " But I guess they HAVE to be decent in order for HUD to affiliate with them right?
So, I don't know I guess I might go look at list. Wonder how much is subsidized? Also . . . HUD guy on phone said . . "Don't have to be a year long resident", also "Don't have to be currently employed"? Are they BS-ing me so they look like they have a job? You know some jobs w/ the Gov. are like . . .if they didn't pull people's wad and make them jump thru all these 'nothing' hoops . . .that are stupid wastes of time, then . . .they wouldn't have a job answering phones and shuffling the papers people turn in until .
Answer:
It’s called Section 8 housing, because it is Section#8 of the law pertaining to subsidized housing. The tenant has to qualify for it and the apartment has to qualify to be on the list. Some are very nice & some are dumps. If you are a good tenant the landlord will love to get the regular rent and you will get help with your bills.
Perhaps you could go pick up the list and see for yourself.
