Can a landlord ask a tenant to remove air conditioner if the water leakage is causing damage to the bricks?
Answer:
Wouldn't it be much better to ask politely to do something about the leak coming out of the AC? And explain to them why (because you DO have a valid reason).
I've seen people attach a tube to where the leak is, and have it redirected inside and end up in a potted plant.
added detail:
The AC ought to be coming down soon anyway. It's getting less warm these days.
Yes if you are the landlord.
No if you are the tenant.
Kidding aside, I think so!
If the unit was there when you moved in then he has to fix the problem . If you put it in unapproved then he can tell you to remove it. That is all contingent upon a good lease.
Yes
Only if the tenant supplied the air conditioner, otherwise it is the landlord's responsibility to fix the problem.
If it your personal a/c and the damage is getting to be severe then yes. But one season of usage? Well he might be knit picky.
Try to rectify the problem. Can you re-direct the water drippage?
Is your a/c old? We bought a new one and it barely leaked at all. The old one though is like Niagra Falls.
Try other alternatives if all else fails then you will have to remove it. Sorry.
Good luck :)
If you install it on a tilt, the water will drip away from the building.
I don't see how a little water can really damage bricks. Brick houses last for hundreds of years in the rain and everything else.
