What do you think about NYC real estate brokers?
Answer:
A broker in NYC charges one months rent. If you have less than 5K, you can't afford a broker, first months rent and security with no job.
I paid someone a fee for my first place on my own in the city (which was probably before you were born), but it wasn't a broker as I later found out. I got the place but I got ripped off on the "fee". All my other places I got through word of mouth.
Most places in Manhattan are safe. You just need to use common sense and be aware of your surroundings.
Have you thought about a share? Have you tried craigslist and the Village Voice for no fee apartments?
As for a job, hit the temp agencies. It will put money in your pocket and food on your plate until you get a real job.
i think the same thing about them as i do most new yuckers, they all suck. If you have five k to blow, you can probably shack up next to a wino in some alley, which isnt the best of places but it will give you an idea of what the rotten apple is all about.
It's so stupid..I mean..like totally no houses..what so ever..just apartments condos etc. BOOOOO
you should have reading habbits of magazines and periodicals which gave details related real estate to get a fair idea and market awareness.
In an industry known for rapacity, they stand at the top of the heap. In every sizeable real estate market in the country the real estate brokers cooperate in a mulitiple listing service so prospective buyers have access to the whole market no matter which broker they deal with. Not in the Big Apple where a few big brokers monopolize the rental, condo & co-op markets; keep secret listings; have non-competitive commission rates; and sabotaged all efforts at estblishing a multiple listing service.
