Which State is Better?

I currently live in Florida and want to move out!! I'm thinking of NC or KY, which do you think is best? My husband is in construction and we have a 8yr old. I don't like Florida because of the cost of living, school system, hussle and bussle, and the weather. Any suggestions would be GREAT! Thank You.

Answer:
You should look at Middle TN, in towns like Smyrna, Eagleville (very small) Murfreesboro (my home). In Murfreesboro or Smyrna construction jobs are plentiful, housing affordable, schools good, lots of family oriented things to do together. Plenty of churches with youth programs to get your kiddo involved with and to ground them soundly so that they do not drift like tumble weeds, or bend like the grass in the wind. TN like FL has no state income tax, weather is temperate, lots of lakes and fishing, boating or water recreation, or Nashville is half hour drive if you wanted access to the big city. Lots of historic sites and things to see or do. Universities are numerous for furthering your education. Just a great place to live.
I would recommend Texas. Not the big cities, everywhere else in Texas the cost of living is low. The weather would be about the same, but not so many hurricanes.
north carolina is beautiful. also I lived in TN for 2 years and love it there. I still miss the mountains!!
all good warm southern states.
good luck!!
Texas is great and I have never seen a hurricane, just a few toronados! But you can get away from those! I saw a property value show this wkend and it said that in Austin,Tx you get like twice the house for what you would pay in most states. Calif. -a 2 bdrm, 1 bath, kit and LR-$5000,000. Austin that would buy a 4,000 sq. ft almost mansion with acreage! In the mid states it was like a 2,000 - 2500sq ft.home. Also the return is fast if you decide to sell. It has lots of silicone manufactoring co and is a tourist place and an ave age of 25-40's. I hope this helps. I live in a smaller town about 6 hrs from Austin, rent 3 bdrm brick 500-650 mo, some up to 750 but very few. Some apts' 300 and small houses 300-350. My sis has a new brk 2 bdrm duplex for 450 and it is very nice. My bros and sis have rental property and sell real estate. My bro has two- 3 bdrm brick one bath across the st from school for 500.
www.greatschools.net - for the schools in the area
www.realtor.com call three real estate agents in the area in which you would like to occupy and get some good buying tips and geography of good schools especially middle and highschool.

Greatschools will also do a crime anaylisis and median average income.

Thought about purchasing some land in Utah and this is what usually do.

Also when you talk to the real estate attorney ask how long they have been selling in that area or how long they have lived there. Makes a big difference. The area I was seeking I called 10 real estate agents and only two called back so I gave them both the buisness. Hey time is money and this is the way it should be.
